Tara and Emma

Dear Jessica,
I've finally found some time to write to you again and share my birth story. I would have sent it a lot sooner but unfortunately the first draft was accidentally deleted and well I haven't been able to put in the time to write it all over again. Anyhow, here is my second attempt at it.

Little Emma was born on Tuesday, January 24th, two weeks before my due date of February 7th. I started to have period like cramping the week before... more

Julie and Joshua

I have gratefully referred to the birth of my son as; "the spa birthing experience". My husband brought great smelling essential oils: Lavender and Eucalyptus, and wonderful music. This created a soothing atmosphere. Along with the epidural and the noon light coming in the large window from our room, I had a very positive birthing experience...more

Michal and Anina

On the morning of March 10, 2006, after a night of labor, my husband, Ron, and I met our daughter, Anina Harper Hart-Lemberger. She is one month old today and has finally allowed us to put her down for long enough for me to write this. It's been quite a month. We all prepare for childbirth, but having the baby-the breastfeeding, the strange hours, the inexplicable crying that tears at your heart-has been far more challenging. Perhaps that's because my birth experience was nothing like I'd expected... more

Nikki and Lennox

Hi Jessica,

Tomorrow is Lennox's 2 week birthday! I can't believe that he was inside of me 13 days ago at this time....

His birth story is a life lesson in itself. Although I didn't think that I had any expectations, I clearly had a vision of how I wanted the birth to go. What actually happened did not fall into my plans to say the least!

I was in labor for 4 days... (more)

Geneva and Dot

Six weeks have passed since our big day, when Dot entered our world and became such an active part of our family. I almost can't remember what life was like without her, but then again the time has flown by. A new baby consumes every part of the day and night-really! But this is a birth story, not a new baby story, so I'll focus on that.

At 3:00 in the morning on March 15, I got up out of bed to go to the bathroom, and my water broke! I knew this was the real thing: water gushed everywhere... (more)

Serena and Ava

Hello Jessica,

I have some downtime and thought I would share my birth story with you and the KULA.

Ava Dorothy Landy was born on June 6, 2006 @ 8:16 PM. She is completely beautiful, healthy and a true joy to her parents/grandparents lives.

The road to her delivery was rough. I developed a pregnancy rash in my 37th week. I self diagnosed...(more)

Sam and Jack

On Thursday, June 8th , 2006 at 4am, I awoke to contractions which were 7mins apart and 60secs long. I'd been having spotting for a couple days and feeling like we were getting close (although I stayed in bed and prayed he wouldn't be born on 6/6/06) We'd gone to bed pretty late the night before, so I was very interested in trying to sleep longer if at all possible - but of course I was WAY too excited to sleep...(more)

Brandi and Ophelia

I intentionally waited one month before I began our daughter's birth story because I wanted to take the time to reflect on the experience. Now that we have adjusted to the love and demands of a newborn, I realize now there isn't anything more wonderful then bringing life into the world.

When I first became pregnant we knew that we wanted a natural/unmedicated birth. I recognize that natural birth is not for everyone...(more)
