Tips for Nausea
Ginger: Any form can help. Ginger candy (available at Trader Joes), ginger tea (boil water with ginger and add lemon), or just rub some fresh ginger on your gums!
Acupressure: Pressing on the point a couple inches from the palm in the middle of the wrist has been shown in studies to have a positive effect on nausea. Buy sea bands or make your own with a rubber band and a pebble.
Soothe: The best and healthiest all-natural anti-nausea supplement. With ingredients like barley green, alfalfa leaf, and watercress, my nutritionist Dr. Ken Yasny says "it's like salad in a pill. You need to alkaline the blood in order to return the body to balance." You can order it through sam@healthsprings.com or contact Dr. Yasny with questions or for a full consultation.
Eat: Have some whole grain crackers next to your bed and eat before you sit up. Always have something small to snack on around, and eat lots of small meals.
Prenatal: Some have less of a smell than others, and some people find it easier to take before bed. Some doctors say if you can't keep it down, or you just find yourself skipping it, try two chewable vitamins or just take a tiny Balanced B that has Folic Acid and other B vitamins - until you can handle the prenatal again. Make sure you get lots of leafy greens and fruit in the meantime.
Recommended as safe and effective by doctors:
Carbohydrate liquid: you can by this - one brand is Emitrol.
Antihistamines: diphenhydramine or doxylamine (such as Benadryl and Unisom)
Vitamin B6: alone or combined with antihistamine shows good results in studies
