Supplies for Baby

For hospital:
1. Down body pillow (great for labor and nursing)
2. for birth: washcloths soaked in ice water w/aveda rose or lavendar oil.
3. favorite lotions, lip stuff, body shampoo
4. favorite movies and cd's
5. snacks

For going home:
1. Pack and Play with basinet. Side sleepers are great too. But you are going to need a pack & play for all travel etc. The Graco sport is awesome and light. CO-sleepers take up too much room in bed - believe me.

For once you get home (get these at Target, Kmart or Walmart-like place):
1. Diaper Genie by Playtex (smelly free diaper bin)
2. Newborn diapers w/cutout for cord (Huggies better than Pampers until you get to pull-ups)
3. Gerber cloth diapers (use as burp clothes - get 2 dozen)
4. 6 Gerber Onesies (they sell by baby weight)
5. 6 Gerber t-shirts (kimono style so you don't have to worry about pulling over little head)
6. 3-6 Gerber sleeper shirts (looks like little dresses but great for a newborn to sleep in!)
7. Dreft baby detergent (everything must get washed in it before it's put on baby)
8. Changing station (just a curved pillow really that can go on any table) and 2 terry cloth covers
9. Boppy pillow (for breast feeding)
10. 3 newborn hats and several pairs of newborn socks. You'll need to keep head covered for at least first couple of weeks.
11. Little plastic tub to give baby sponge baths (can't submerge him in water until cord falls off).

Costco has great cheap Kirkland baby wipes and it's good for large supply of Huggies too (you're going to go through so much of this stuff you won't believe it).

For baby (best baby products are Mustella):
1. shampoo (for cradle cap)
2. lotion or even better, edible oils like sweet almond
3. diaper cream

Davies all-over baby wash is the best soap for bath because it's foamy and very gentle. Love this stuff. Can order online (Davies Babies) if not in store.

Books you must get:
The Baby Whisperer (check out the E.A.S.Y. routine - saved us)
Happiest Baby on the Block

For Mama: Medela Pump and Style Traveler Breast Pump (best pump around), nursing bras (the kind you can open one boob at a time for easy access), and nipple cream (yup).
